Lovely cup and saucer from Mary who will be much missed. Her last day of work was yesterday. After nearly 25 years she has retired. She is coming back for an official farewell in 2011. A fantastic liaison librarian and a wonderful woman.

Making licorice allsorts for two hats. I don't knit so my friend Kate is making the hat bit and I am crocheting the allsorts. We are using the pattern provided by NZMS. The hats were the hit of the #lianza10 conference recently held in NZ. Papers from the conference are now available online here. I do get a special mention on the NZMS site. Again thank you lianza for another great conference.  

 

Some shoots from University of Otago.

I visited Dunedin Public Library today. It was the first free public library in NZ established in 1908. It was housed in the Carnegie building for a very long time and then in the 1981 it moved to it's new location.

Mary Ronnie who wrote a history of the library called "Freedom to Read" was our tour guide of the Carnegie building. A wonderful story-teller with a lilting Scottish accent she was the perfect guide.

The Library is filled with wonderful art works.

I am in Dunedin, New Zealand for LIANZA10 a library conference. This morning I went for a run to the Botanical gardens. I spent a lot of time in the gardens when I was growing up. They are really beautiful. Here are a few shots. I am loving it here and this afternoon I am off to see The Chills OMG. Live Dunedin sound band from my youth. Perfect.

Rain, rain and more rain for the rest of this week. I am off to NZ for the LIANZA10 conference tomorrow where the temperature will be in the low 20s. Dunedin is my home town and it has been a long time since I have been back.
