Rest

P954

Back giving me grief. I do have comprehensive travel insurance but the pain isn't really an emergency. Navigating the health system here is confusing. People don't seem to be interested if you don't have insurance. After resting today it is feeling better. So I am going to see how I go.

So while resting I made a hat for a friends new baby.

For lunch today we went to Memphis Minnies BBQ. It was awesome.

Today I got up early and traipsed up a very steep hill to Buena Vista Park which is being reforested. I only spotted one squirrel. It has great dog walking facilities as does the Duboce Park down the road. I went shopping in a great Korean run green grocer yesterday. The fruit and vegetable here are wonderful. We are living on berries and oranges.

I found a tattooist at Black and Blue Tattoo which is close by. Stay tuned for pictures (Friday). Our apartment is located in the Duboce Triangle. It's a great neighborhood. The first Airbnb we stayed it was great for a short stay. Tiny. But clean and in a terrific location (Hayes Valley) our host June was lovely. We went out to lunch together and met her boyfriend Chris who actually works at Airbnb. Her other friend Chris just started work at Google. A sure sign you are in SF people working in start ups and the big G!

Our current apartment is larger and perfect for the rest of our stay. Our hosts have even graciously lend us their bikes. I can't recommend Airbnb highly enough. The is something to suit every budget.

Apologies my blogging has mostly been pictures but being here is a visceral experience and although I am keeping a travel diary - I am just soaking it all up.

Peace
